Epson launches system chips for electronic paper applications
Seiko Epson, a global provider of imaging products and semiconductor solutions, recently announced its latest development of the SoC (System chip). The product is mainly aimed at the most popular E-Ink e-paper applications, such as e-books, tablets, electronic notebooks, etc., and was jointly developed with Mega Hong Electronics Co., LTD., which focuses on multimedia SoC development in Taiwan.
In order to maximize the performance of the e-paper display controller, Epson has optimized the memory controller interface while retaining the function of the display controller, so as to ensure the more stable and smooth image display of the e-paper, and to achieve the goal of low cost and low power consumption by optimizing the e-paper application system.
It is reported that the creation of this electronic paper display application ASIC on the SoC platform, perfect display quality of electronic paper, and achieve the lowest power consumption in the e-book market, the fastest operation and the best cost performance and many other advantages. This product is not only limited to the e-book application market, but also has great potential in emerging markets such as laptops and online education.
